These terms apply to your use of universal-encoder-decoder.com, its tools and its guides, which are provided by the team behind Universal Encoder Decoder. By using the site you agree to them.
Free tools, provided as is
The tools and guides are free to use. They are provided "as is", without any warranty that they are error-free, complete or suitable for a particular purpose. Check important results independently before you rely on them, especially in production systems.
Understand what each tool does
- Encoding is not encryption. Base64, hex, URL encoding, HTML encoding, ROT13, Punycode and Unicode escapes are reversible by anyone. They do not protect data.
- Decoding a JWT does not verify it. The JWT decoder shows a token's contents but does not check its signature or prove that it is genuine.
- Hashes have different strengths. MD5 and SHA-1 should not be used where collision resistance matters. See MD5 vs SHA-256 for file checksums.
